My Why Statement [A Personal Mission]
I believe that design can change the world for the better.
I strive to deliver meaningful design so that future generations can enjoy this planet.
It’s important to change opinions—deep seated cultural habits through creative ideas.
Design is Life. Everything made by man is designed, and we are responsible for designing the future we want.
There is no denying that Earth is facing a critical time, both environmentally and culturally. The human race is living well beyond its means, and this has to stop. The consumerist values instilled in developed societies are causing irrevocable damage to biodiversity and the environment. We must not let these values continue if we wish future generations to prosper.
From the products we buy, food we eat, work we do, there is vast potential to increase efficiency and sustainability within the entire chain of distribution.
I aim to lead a fun, adventurous and exciting life with my family, but this doesn’t have to be at the expense of our ecosystem.
Natural resources are finite, and we cannot wait for the hope of technological advances to save the day—we must take responsibility for our actions and instigate change where we can.
Time is running out. Radical change is long-overdue.
Start with that which is within your power to change. Drive to work? Take public transport or commute by bike instead. Home-owner? Look to affordable renewable energy sources, alternative energy providers or simple home improvements for increased efficiency. Pay attention to the food you eat, where it comes from and any agricultural impact. Be curious and ask why?
Most importantly, we must lead by example and inspire other to follow suit.
I hope my daughter grows up in a world where she can enjoy the natural beauty of the world that has inspired me my whole life.
As a designer I am responsible for the work I do, who I work for and the potential impact (positive or negative) that will have.
My goal is to influence businesses and organisations to employ ethical values through creative design thinking for a sustainable future.
